Those astronomers have gone and done it again. They are causing me to use an abundance of midnight oil to keep up with the naming of all the objects out there - and there are so many. About a week ago, two newly named bodies appeared on the Minor Planet Center’s list: Chiminigagua - a Kuiper Belt Object of possible dwarf planet stature, and Petraios - a low eccentricity centaur whose naming seems more than appropriate. My initial thoughts on these bodies follow.
At the get-go here, let me state that the updates to the Galactic Trilogy including the latest orbital data, keywords and ephemeridae have been sent to those enrollees in the KBGASP Course course and the Galactic Trilogy owners that I have now on my list. With that out of the way...
To review, a centaur is a body, more or less between Jupiter and Neptune (the astronomical definitions have evolved over the years), established as a class of solar system objects when Chiron first came to light in 1977. Centaurs contribute to multidimensional healing of maladies induced largely with the appearance of modern society and subsequently the Internet. (Side note: I am working to fund a short film which addresses the perils of modern electronic gizmos for spirits in the afterlife - pure fiction, of course)
Mythologically, the centaur Petraios took part in the battle at the wedding of Pirithous, notably a symbolic clash between primal chaos and social order, which feels appropriately fitting these days. His name means “rocky,” and implies rock solid strength and stability. As Ovid tells the tale, Petraios fell, meeting his demise, while grappling with the rooted Earth, symbolically marking the cusp between structure and upheaval and the coping mechanisms required.
Petraios’ orbit is nearly round (low eccentricity) and whips about the Sun every 90.46 years. His north node calls 3 Cancer 18 home and his perihelion calculates to 13 Virgo 19. On 1 September 2025, he transits 8 Scorpio 30.
Simplistically, Petraios constantly surveys his surroundings and seeks to fuss about with this and that to make it feel safe and right. Sometimes this fussing about could feel disruptive to others not privy to his priorities and methods. Regardless, his quest is for a stable environment especially when confronting disruption and a lack of ease outside ones home. There is an innate forcefulness when asserting those things that create a sensation of safety and sometimes such assertion may cause upheaval and chaos in the short term. The question is: Will the changes fought for and sought truly ease the conditions perceived to be tumultuous or will those changes create a greater sensation of a chaotic patch on the road ahead?
The ultimate question for this centaur is: Are you fixing the rooted core of the matter, or are you attending to cosmetic, surface fixes only? This brings to mind the I-Ching notation in the hexagram “Revolution” that a great person changes like a tiger, deep and from within. A tiger’s stripes change reflecting a long, internal process, unlike other wild felines who can change the spots on their coat as a superficial adjustment to conditions at hand. Given his current Scorpio transit, Petraios seeks evolution that sticks, changes that mean something and solutions that address the source of the problem. While Chiron revolves around the Sun in slightly more than have the time of Petraios’ orbit, Petraios is a fan of noting, there may be no fast fix for lingering problems. Take enough time to do the change correctly (perfectly?) and ensure it resets all emotions.
Farther out in the solar system orbit the Kuiper Belt Objects more leisurely stroll about the sun. The larger diameter of these fall into an illusively defined category of Dwarf Planets. The recent discovery, Chiminigagua, possesses an estimated diameter of 740 km, likely large enough to be another dwarf dang planet.
To the Muisca people who occupy the Andes in central Columbia, Chiminigagua is the creator of light and the world and all within it. Before Chiminigagua, there was only darkness. The naming is appropriately consistent with the orbital period of 450.63 years - objects possessing orbits longer than that of Pluto will be named for creation, resurrection deity.
There is a bit of a recurring theme in recent naming of the primal moments in which life as we know it began. Chaos (a KBO) was perceived to be all there was prior to creation. Recently, it was suggested that Achlys existed even before Chaos. And here, the big bang, presumably the result of the everything that once was exploding, is potentially portrayed with the appearance of Chiminigagua. Given that astronomers have recently displayed keen perception in their naming of solar system objects, suggest it is time for human kind to return to its origin story and figure out where it went wrong along the way.
Chiminigagua’s perihelion of 26 Aquarius 35 nearly aligns with the black hole Cygnus X-3. This black hole notes the importance of full and complete emotional clearing at the time it appears that takes as long as it does. Clearing cannot be rushed. His node of 07 Libra 00 combines yet another air sign into the mix and promotes a clear and clean sense of boundaries. Simply, Chiminigagua points out that personal boundaries are different from those boundaries one uses to function within the entirety of humanity. As of midnight GMT on 21 August, Chiminigagua stands at 18 Virgo 17 virtually conjunct the south lunar node at 18 Virgo 23 and within a reasonable orb of dwarf planet transiting companion Orcus precisely occupying 16 Virgo 23.
Could it be, according to Orcus, that people need to remember that people remember promises? If someone boasted about something they can most certainly accomplish within a specific time that would benefit all, when the circumstances that defined the boast appear, others expect those promises to be fulfilled and fulfilled expediently. On the fundamental personal level, review your origin story, your personal source code. When an item appears that signifies regret or demands lamentation, do the lamenting thing, be done with it, rewrite the source code and no longer anticipate that previous errors will appear in the future. If it has been rewritten in terms of ones inner workings, promise yourself that henceforth, all will be free and clear of decisions that muck up personal life choices. Such a process declares a sacred vow and assures the life traveler that on the road ahead, integration of consciousness prevents replication of previous woes. Can it be as simple as rewriting the code? According to Virgo it can. Suddenly, what was bleak and dark, becomes light, illuminated, clear and presents only circumstances with which one can cope. This is akin to the sayings that a person is never tested by the Divine beyond that person’s capabilities. Could it be that simple? Could it really turn out perfect or perfectly, depending upon your adverb proclivity? One way to find out: Rewrite the code and function in life in the most awesome and nominal manner.
