Rear View Mirror ~ 5 August 2010

Is it premature to look at the overly-hyped transits of this year in the rear view mirror? True, we still have more of Saturn to Uranus and Pluto in the next few weeks. Also, we have Jupiter to Saturn, Uranus and Pluto with which we must contend in the next seven months. However, one of the most likely trigger spark planet transits to the gasoline soaked gaseous giants and potent Pluto, is complete and now behind us in the time line rear view mirror. During this past week Mars matched wits with Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter and Pluto, nudging to see if he could rile them.

Observation of global news during this era noted the typical array of stories detailing flooding, fire, mayhem, shootings, political conflicts and more. Were these reported with any greater frequency, and was there in fact an increase in the appearance of disasters of the world? The way news is reported today, it is hard to know. If any of the harsh news stories directly impacted a person, no doubt the severity of the patterns would be verified.

More important, the world did not stop spinning, nor did it split in two. The stock market continued as it has since October 2008, and panicked looters did not destroy all the grocery stores. Pretty much it looked like business as usual, albeit with a bit of an edge. Kim Jong Il is still muttering and showing the world he means business... this time using the Arirang Festival to tout the merits of his country. Should the end of the world be called off?

The assignment of doom and negativity to the patterns just completed was unwarranted. It is true that the patterns offered an intense window of time through which humankind must navigate. However, the longer I do astrology, the more I see that an aspect is an aspect, and aspects do not seem to care if they are malefic or benefic. When viewing mundane events of any sort, there is always a combination of “favorable” and “challenging” patterns - you know “good” and “bad” transits from “good” and “bad” planets. Some suggest that the simultaneous appearance of positive and negative influences are required to keep the solar system together. Since I’ve not seen the original blueprint for the solar system, I do not feel qualified to comment on that. I’m more in the mind set of noting aspects are aspects and good can come from any aspect, given a shift of awareness and dedication to action accompanying those aspects.

Today, hours after Mars inched out of exactitude with Jupiter and Pluto, 40 billionaires in the United States agreed to give half their wealth to charity. British Petroleum claims that the static kill of mud - terms which fit the transits - onto the leaking oil well in the Gulf of Mexico is holding. I’d be more inclined to state an absolute after Saturn and Pluto square in the next couple weeks... Saturn ruling earthen materials and Pluto the oil spewing from his realm. These stories also come from the harsh, stress inducing patterns of the past days, during which, many were hiding in bomb shelters preparing to make a life of eating survival rations. The other day I watched a TV news story suggesting that politicians are lying about crime statistics to keep the collective consciousness fear-based.

Here’s one thing we can all do, while still keeping our ear tuned for the cracking of ice under our feet. Stop projecting fear. Remember the Photon Belt? The lights did not go out on Earth for three days. Planet X has not killed us, nor will it ever, since it does not exist. Y2K did not set us back to Flintstone lifestyle and force everyone to (re)learn the lost art of abacus and slide rule accounting and calculation. Have we yet learned that the planets work to reset our consciousness and inspire us to live the best life possible no matter what adversity, personal or collective, comes our way? If not, dammit, it’s time to wrap around that warp... a concept Eris and Jupiter are fixing to deliver in a big way. More on that in the next months... and nothing to worry about between now and then.

So let’s reset the patterns we have in the immediate future first. Over the next days, Venus, the lovely traditionally claimed benefic, engages Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Pluto and Mars. For perspective on this planet, consider that if you stood on the surface of Venus you would simultaneously be crushed, asphyxiated, roasted and corroded beyond all recognition. Well, sure if one was on the planet. And we’re not. We stand on Earth wistfully wishing on Venus as the first star of evening, which leads us back to the mundane pressures of Venus by interpretation. She refers to money and she refers to love and she refers to one’s belief in one’s attributes that cause a person to be a magnet to love and money. Collectively, reboot the self esteem computers. Most likely it will take a few minutes longer than you’d expect. That latest update of spyware to keep people from taking their condemning ego whacks at you on social networking sites, forums and such takes longer to get running. Anyway, get over external criticism and condemnation that are not valid. Writers often claim if critics had talent, they’d write, too.

Reset confidence. Then, get over yourself such that ego claims which cannot be backed up in real life fall by the wayside. Go inner core in collecting all the verifiable and undeniable personal attributes you’ve cultivated along the way. Revisit your bio page (and reaffirm your security settings if you’re on social networks), restate your agenda, and declare your aspirations with soulful confidence and clarity of vision.

Saturn and Jupiter are fixing to line up. Saturn is contraction; Jupiter is expansion. The opposition between these two permits the greatest mileage out of any cause, plan or action put into play. But the pattern only supports those things put in play. Saturn does not sanction ideas. That’s Jupiter’s job. If Jupiter clicks in, one’s spirit of possibility returns, giving a body enough psychic oomph to press boldly forward. Once that happens, Saturn signs on. Conceive it. Solidify it. Make a plan. Launch and persist... all based upon the yearnings that stir in the next days of Venus transits - let’s just call it now through August 21st. That date, slightly more than two weeks out, is the day after Venus takes the (temporary) lead ahead of Mars. It is also the date that Saturn completes its dance with Pluto.

Ah, Saturn to Pluto. What a great aspect to engage, if... If you’ve done your work, Pluto conspires with Saturn to create acclaim that exceeds one’s wildest expectations. Pluto pushes a person out and up into the next level in terms of commitment, involvement and taking on whatever cause of life riles a person’s spirit the most.

No matter if these patterns fit a person’s natal chart or not, they are out there operating in the collective. If one takes on the prevailing aspects with no opinion as to their good planet/bad planet merit and uses inherent transit energy to make the most of situations, life evolves. As life imitates art, consciousness follows conscious realizations of progress and success. This is a time, maybe “the” time in which consciousness can/must shift.

Isn’t it time to apply the transits of now, learning from the past - including the weird tendency to expect woe tomorrow, and put some serious distance behind us on the path toward the greatest aspirations one can conjure? Dare you check the rear view mirror?
