A Full Fortnight Ahead ~ 25 July 2010

Today starts one of the most short term complexes of potent astrological patterns seen in a while in such a brief slice of time.

This is the time your astrologer... told you to sleep in? suggested sticking your head in the sand? promised you could create breakthroughs in your life? alerted you to pay attention to whispers of inspiration? told you to run scared like a rabbit? pray for world peace?

Today, Jupiter, just now retrograde, squares Pluto (and again on August 3rd). Perhaps this is the scariest part, given recent global political rumblings. Kim Jong Il, the erratic leader of North Korea, promised to deliver a “sacred,” nuclear war if military exercises combining the resources of the United States and South Korea do not cease. Given the nature of the threat - a bombastic promise about nuclear bombs from a dictator whose node, Mars and Eris are in the thick of the current patterns - the Jupiter to Pluto signature fits, as does its seriousness. Given the degrees of the Jupiter-Pluto pattern, the volatility of this situation promises to be ultra unstable until the triggering effect of Mars passes on or about August 4th.

To be clear, I did not imply a war will start. Nor do I intend to minimize the critical flash point of the prevailing transits. To be realistic, there is a dangerous international political conflict that comes close to rivaling the threat of the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. For those who were not incarnate at that time, it was the cusp of a potentially devastating global situation. If you’d like a little background on that scenario, check out the DVD, The Fog of War, which is pretty close to getting it from the horse’s mouth, and confirms that understanding can avert catastrophe. Anyway, let us affirm, pray and hold the vision that cool collective political heads and cultural understanding can wind this situation down into quiescence.

Also realistically, other than beaming global healing vibes at Korea, and while at it, other regions of perpetual conflict, most have no hand in the outcome of this situation. So, put out the most fabulous vibes you can muster and keep your eye on the ball of your own life.

Let’s examine the upcoming patterns and come up with bullet point remedies for each. Please note the time frames given are based upon GMT and may vary by a day in your local time zone. When mentioning the signs in the patterns, they are referenced according to the placement of the planets in the sentence noting the pattern. So if I make zodiac sign statements that seem bassackwards, that’s why.

Back to Jupiter square Pluto, Aries to Capricorn: Hit the reset button that restores the software of motivation, determination and aspiration. None of this, “ah what’s the point?” stuff. Those who aspire just might lead the way out of darker spaces into lighter spaces no matter what the issue. If one succumbs to, “the corporations always win,” “politicians are beyond redemption,” “the world’s going to end anyway,” or “the aliens will come fetch us just before the end of the Mayan Calendar expires, so why bother?” nothing gets done.

Saturn opposes Uranus, Libra to Aries, on the July 26: This aspect appears for the first time from the Libra to Aries axis, emphasizing cooperation, negotiation and fairness in all relationships from personal to international. This is an aspect of change that honors an agenda of “change from within to without.” Being a rule breaker only manages to install increasingly rigid resistance from the status quo. Engaging in and participating with the powers that be, then rendering and initiating positive change-based solutions bring more promising results. This factor is enhanced by Mars’ current passage square the Galactic Center. If the changes you want to invoke criticize or condemn the norm, those in charge just don’t get all cozy about being told how wrong their ways happen to be. A good idea may drop through the cracks of resistance.

Mars opposes Uranus, Libra to Aries, on July 30: A modicum of patience goes a long way. There is the “hurry, hurry, there’s a fire to put out” sense of urgency about everything. However, before heading out of the station, make sure the gear needed to address what lies ahead is neatly accessible and the ability to keep adrenalin, enthusiasm and fervent excitement remains in check. Be quick but don’t hurry.

Mars aligns with Saturn in Libra on July 31: No speeding. Play by the rules and play nicely, too. Do your homework. Dedicate continuing energy to projects started. As noted in paragraphs below, the fantastical results desired might take some time to establish. There’s no quick fix. The times require a plan for sticking to your goals that exceeds previously known levels of commitment.

Mars squares Pluto, Libra to Capricorn, on August 4: Yet another “buck no authority before you’re in the position to wield necessary influence” energy. Fire up your inner furnace. Turn any negative reactions, such as anger, jealousy or competitiveness into passion, determination and unshakeable belief in your energy. Then you can take off the brakes.

Mars opposes Jupiter, Libra to Aries, on August 4: Every buffet or set back needs to inspire more courage, perseverance and belief in one’s objectives. It’s not a bad time to seek out a mentor if setbacks cannot be averted and you have no idea why. The mentor - in a Chiron is back to Neptune kind of way - needs to have more experience, greater wisdom and a broader perspective. Decide what to include from suggestions rendered and advice given, then reaffirm one’s aspirations.

The complex of patterns does not cease between now and August 4th. Jupiter opposes Saturn, Aries to Libra, on August 16: Actually this is a perfect pattern of push and pull. A symbol comes from shifting a car. A “clutch in” pause may be necessary and the shifting of gears required for greater traction on the roadways of life. Another life supporting symbol comes from the systolic and diastolic functions of the heart. Expansion, contraction, expansion etc. allows for continued progress in a non-Sisyphusian manner. Get a grip on the tao of push-pause-push.

Jupiter aligns with Uranus in Aries on September 19: No matter what has occurred in terms of success or setback, here comes a point of critical review. Keep what works. Cease investing energy in actions, causes etc. that did not produce the expected or required results. Find new ways. Learn from snafus and accomplishments equally. Install newly drafted innovations and revisions to previous innovations swiftly and smartly.

Bear in mind that all these patterns are points of initiation, hopefully stirring personal and collective improvements while steering in an evolutionary direction. These transits are not finished when their dates of exactitude complete. Continued patterns between these planets in play plus triggers from other planets coming into play later keep the momentum churning. The ongoing patterns work hard to ensure that long term goals remain in focus.

Saturn is done with all this, moving onto more advanced degrees in Libra where he’ll align with Haumea and oppose Eris in Aries within 2011 (more in future Galactic Times ahead). Mars is done with the patterns in the first week of August, though we should keep a watchful eye for the few days of September when he opposes Eris. Some might say good riddance that Mars and Saturn leave so quickly. Well, they represent the primal, raw energy required to keep the pilot light lit and the determination and stick to it-iveness required to complete long term goals. So, when they click in the next couple of weeks, make the click stick.

Jupiter, the embellisher, amplifier and director of drama, clears Uranus in January of 2011 and Pluto in February 2011. Whatever fervor, ruckus or metaphorical maelstrom may appear in the next weeks, the incendiary nature stabilizes early next year. A restoration of a viable economy? Maybe, but if you’re banking on the vacillations of the stock market, you might need to figure that Uranus must finish up the pattern before everything goes back to the groove, which is three picometers short of a rut. Still, calm coalesces from chaos.

Uranus clears the degrees where this pattern triggers (0 to 3 + degrees of cardinal signs) between January and March of 2012. Once he gets back into Aries in March of 2011, his ball is in play with the upcoming patterns for an additional year.

Finally, Uranus and Pluto, begin their ongoing square. Due to the relative planetary geometries, this is nearly a three year run. The square begins in May 2012 with exact aspects continuing through February 2015, and remaining in a reasonably tight orb through the balance of 2015. This is a cosmic five-year plan; a plan triggered by the intensely focused stir of planets in the next couple of weeks. Ready? Ready or not, here they come. Let us invoke the prevailing personal inner churning of Eris in Aries. All things that do not suit the spirit or fit with one’s greatest fortune get to be gone.
