Evolving with Eris ~ 2 April 2008

Probably the simplest method for discovering the meaning of a newly encountered body, be it a dwarf planet or galactic point, comes from observation of direct alignment from a planet to it and the corresponding fun enjoyed by humankind during that transit. Over the next three weeks we have four opportunities to examine the influence of Eris as she experiences conjunctions from the Moon, the Sun, Mercury and Venus. The transit of Venus also occurs when she squares Mars. It should be noted that these passages refer to Eris’ current position of roughly 21 degrees. Given that she’s such a slow mover while in Aries, most folks (those born after 1925, and some from 1922 to 1925) find Eris in Aries in their personal horoscope. This means that all persons have recently had, or will soon have contact from these same bodies to their natal Eris.

Here’s the collective rundown:

April 6 - Moon - a day in which feeling shunned, excluded or diminished produces strong reactions. Celebrity news might focus on which person became BFF (Best Friends Forever) or ended a previously declared forever relationship.

April 10 - Sun - Ah, who is the fairest of them all? Issues of vanity, recognition and one’s sense of personal importance dominate the landscape. In the U.S. Presidential primary the matter of whom is included or excluded on campaign staffs and what endorsements should be accepted or rejected rise to hostile and argumentative heights. Claims made about activities accomplished need to match with recorded history. A ruling (petition or filing) about a club or group seeking to discriminate or exclude others could make legal headlines.

April 13 - Mercury - The urge to declare or justify one’s desired involvement or affiliation with any group, organization or social thing rises in the personal worth thermometer. All those credit cards that advertise that having their card is the ultimate cool economic club, should have a flood of applications following this pattern. If only American Express had chosen the apple for their new business status card instead of the plum, they’d be in complete accord with Eris.

April 22 - Venus, square to Mars in Cancer - A volatile pattern that drives envy, jealousy and perhaps nationalism and chauvinism to inflamed and dangerous heights. Whether personal or political, this is a grand five day interval to step back from the panic button and move away from enacting instinctively triggered reactions. Charming economic news hits the wires, too. The “R” word will probably find its official place in political vocabulary. Another message appears in the form of a company in trouble because of its greed (Bear Sterns, KBR, an airline).

Since all earthly residents belong to the club of humanity, how can a person keep her/his perspective during the above collectively charged times and the personally stimulated times when the planets trigger natal Eris? The following bullet guide intends to help you dodge a few bullets over the next days. If you don’t have your Eris position committed to memory, it might be time to call your neighborhood astrologer and hopefully prior to the expected passages.

Moon: Spend some time reviewing what you want... what you really want. Ponder if all the inclusion you crave truly satisfies your spirit. Pay attention to needs of comfort and security that you feel can be threatened by others. As a nice propitiation have an apple, or cook one into some food, drink some pomegranate juice or sprinkle some of those lovely magenta seeds on your salad.

Sun: Work to install a clear and unshakeable sense of personal confidence. Slay any ego demons so that bombastic declarations and turf related threats have no place in your life. Consider how in the laws of nature, molecules and even more fundamentally, atoms, know those things to which they are attracted and from which things they are repulsed. How you doing in that regard? Why be included in situations or affiliate with folks that do not support your nature, needs and consciousness? To make an Eris offering, how about a new set of self-affirming proclamations?

Mercury: It’s quite simple really. State where you want to be, where you need to go and ask to be included in events and with folks that you feel soulfully compelled to enjoy. Take those solar-based declarations and recite them out loud. Maybe write a poem or sing a song declaring your own mythology in a concise tale or ballad.

Venus (and square Mars): Since one’s basic world feels threatened in this passage, take some time to reacquaint yourself with your worth. Focus on whom you are, what you’ve accomplished and why you’re a fine catch in the river of relationships. Doing the above, you can remove the ugly green urges of jealousy inspired by a weak sense of self, vanity and attachment to those things in life that do not fit a soul’s purpose. State needs, desires and hurt feelings that address any perception of being uninvited, excluded, snubbed, rejected and disavowed. Tirades based upon possessiveness and jealousy are expressly prohibited. With you and yours, or to the hope of attracting “yours,” raise a glass. You may offset the tartness of pomegranate juice with some delicious apple juice, of course!

Take notes. You’re going to learn what you value and more interestingly, why you value it. The motive behind your aspirations to do, receive, acquire and relate become as clear as if viewed in a looking glass. Those clinging to materialism and vanity have the roughest go of all in this time.

These are resetting times. Eris is a spiritually motivated, evolution-savvy planet. She’s about to let you know what’s real and what’s not. What an interesting way she has of getting a person through the looking glass. Don’t you reckon, Alice?
